A new, 39th group of experts from the IAEA Permanent Mission on Nuclear Safety and Security has begun its work at the Rivne NPP. The mission representatives will continue monitoring nuclear and radiation safety at the nuclear power plant under conditions of russian aggression.

On March 28, a team of foreign experts from Australia and the Republic of South Africa arrived to replace their predecessors – experts from Pakistan and Finland. Representatives of the 38th and 39th teams met during a working meeting with the participation of representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Commission of Ukraine, RNPP management and International Cooperation and Technical Assistance Department. During the meeting, they got acquainted, outlined plans for further activities and shared their experience.

“Communication with representatives of the previous IAEA team was effective and productive. I received positive feedback from the employees interviewed every day. I hope for fruitful cooperation in the future, and I would like to express gratitude to the IAEA for the assistance provided in arranging equipment supply,” Valerii Kovalchuk, RNPP Deputy Chief Engineer for Technology and Engineering, emphasized.

“We are grateful to the Rivne nuclear employees for their openness and professionalism. Everything we observed met the highest quality standards. During my work, I have visited many nuclear power plants in the world and I can say that everything at the Rivne NPP is at a high level – both in technical and administrative aspects,” senior IAEA expert commented.

The 39th IAEA mission, as the previous team, will work at the Rivne NPP for three weeks.
