The IAEA's permanent monitoring mission completed its 52nd rotation at the Rivne NPP site. The new team comprises experts from Brazil and Canada.

During their stay at RNPP, IAEA representatives will monitor nuclear and radiation safety, review equipment and operations, and assess compliance with safety standards.

The meeting at the plant site summed up the outcomes of the previous rotation and identified the priority tasks for the next period. The parties discussed the current security situation and exchanged experiences. IAEA experts noted the openness and constructiveness of the Ukrainian side and thanked them for their effective cooperation.

“As part of the IAEA's permanent monitoring mission, I had the opportunity to work at all Ukrainian NPP sites. The staff demonstrates resilience and high professionalism even in extremely challenging conditions,” said the IAEA senior expert.

RNPP specialists expressed gratitude to the previous rotation team for their professional work and wished the new group a successful and fruitful three weeks ahead.

“Thank you for your coordinated work and constant support. We remain open to cooperation and joint work,” emphasized Valerii Kovalchuk, RNPP Deputy Chief Engineer for Technology and Engineering.

Continuous international monitoring remains a crucial element in ensuring transparency and objective assessment of the state of nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine.

The key task of the IAEA's permanent mission is to monitor compliance with the seven indispensable pillars for nuclear safety and security, the implementation of which is critical in the context of the russian federation's ongoing armed aggression against Ukraine.
