A new group of international observers consisting of specialists from Argentina, Romania, and Canada began work at the Rivne NPP site. They replaced a team of experts from Nigeria, Armenia, Poland, and Namibia, who completed their three-week mission at the facility.
During the kick-off meeting with the plant's management and representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate, the international experts familiarized themselves with the state of the Rivne NPP power units, discussed current issues of nuclear and radiation safety in the context of martial law, and accepted the findings of their colleagues from the previous rotation.
Representatives of the RNPP administration and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate expressed their gratitude to the experts for their professionalism and constant support. In particular, Valerii Kovalchuk, Deputy Chief Engineer for Technology and Engineering, Volodymyr Krasnoshchochenko, Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate at the Rivne NPP, and Ihor Savchuk, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Technical Assistance, thanked the IAEA mission for its constructive cooperation, professional interaction, and significant contribution to strengthening safety.
In response, the international experts thanked the nuclear power plant staff for their high-quality organization of work, openness, and high level of professionalism at the Rivne NPP. They noted the positive practices applied at the enterprise and emphasized that despite all the challenges of wartime, Ukrainian specialists demonstrate endurance, resilience, and dedication to safety.
Over the next three weeks, the 50th IAEA team will continue to monitor compliance with international standards in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, observe the implementation of the seven indispensable pillars for ensuring nuclear safety and security, and assess the state of infrastructure at the RNPP site.
The permanent presence of the IAEA mission at Ukrainian nuclear power plants is an important tool for international control, confirming the transparency of Ukraine's nuclear facilities and the high level of safe operation of power units. It also demonstrates Ukraine's openness to cooperation with the international community and its readiness to continue working in accordance with the highest international standards.
