The 43rd rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Permanent Monitoring Mission took place at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant. A new team of experts will monitor compliance with nuclear safety at the facility for three weeks.
On June 23, the Company managers held an official meeting with experts from the new and previous teams. Andrii Fomytskyi, Chief Engineer of the branch “SS SUNPP”, welcomed the international observers and introduced them to the current state of things at the power plant.
“We are open to cooperation. I would like to express gratitude to the team that has worked with us for the past three weeks, and I hope for similar close interaction with the successors. We have a common goal – safety of the nuclear facility,” Andrii Fomytskyi said in his welcoming speech.
The experts who were completing their mission at the SUNPP traditionally summed up their work. They discussed the results of monitoring the areas that contributed to maintaining nuclear safety and security at the NPP. During their stay, they conducted rounds, inspected the equipment, and spoke with the plant personnel.
“I can say that the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant is in safe hands. I am very glad that I have worked with a professional and highly qualified team,” commented one of the international experts who was completing his mission at the SUNPP.
The IAEA keeps on monitoring nuclear and radiation safety at Ukrainian NPPs in accordance with the seven pillars of nuclear safety and security. The new rotating team will continue constant monitoring and nuclear safety inspection at the South Ukraine NPP.
The constant presence of international experts is a guarantee of transparency and international trust in the safe operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants in wartime.
