A working meeting at the affiliate “SS SUNPP” site covered the discussion of the safety situation at the South Ukraine NPP and the observations of international experts. Attendees included the plant's administration, State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) specialists led by Oleh Korikov, and representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

At the meeting, Oleh Korikov stressed that IAEA experts have been present at Ukrainian NPPs since early 2023. This cooperation with the national regulator is systematic. Their presence focuses on recording russia's threatening actions, which affect nuclear and radiation safety. The IAEA Director General uses these reports as evidence of illegal actions of the aggressor state. After the meeting, international agency representatives voiced no comments or concerns.

In the context of safety issues, the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate highlighted that after reassessing SUNPP power unit No. 2, the state regulator confirmed the possibility of its further operation until 2035. "The ability to safely operate SUNPP power unit No. 2 for the next ten years has been proven. This extends its total operating life to 50 years," said Oleh Korikov. "This is the second 1,000 MW power unit in Ukraine with such a confirmed resource."

The continuous work of the IAEA international mission in Ukraine is determined by agreements at the highest level and will continue for as long as the security situation requires.
