The IAEA mission rotation took place at South Ukraine NPP. On January 27, the 36th team of technical experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency entered on duty. Representatives of the mission will continue to monitor nuclear and radiation safety at the nuclear power plant in the context of russian aggression.
During a working meeting, representatives of the 35th and 36th missions met with the nuclear power plant executives. They got acquainted, outlined plans for further work, and shared their experience. “During our work, we had the opportunity to work with a large number of professionals. Our team was very pleased with their openness and hospitality. During the rotation, we have achieved all the goals,” said the head of the previous 35th IAEA mission.
The experts have rotated, but their goal remains the same: to monitor nuclear and radiation safety at Ukrainian nuclear power plants in the face of russian aggression. According to the head of the new team, its members set themselves a task to make sure that the fundamental principles of IAEA nuclear safety remain unaffected at South Ukraine NPP. For their part, the SUNPP specialists assured the technical experts of their full support and openness. “Following the approved program, during their stay at our nuclear power plant, the representatives of the mission plan, in particular, to regularly visit the industrial site and communicate with our company's specialists. The experts will be provided with information on the operation of power units and the situation in the power system related to shelling and enemy aggression,” explained Volodymyr Oleksiychuk, SUNPP Acting Deputy Chief Engineer for Life Extension, Technology, and Engineering.
The IAEA missions are currently present at all Ukrainian NPPs. At South Ukraine NPP believe that this is of great importance not only for our country, but also for the international community. According to Volodymyr Oleksiychuk, this allows to provide truthful data and inform the world about the situation at domestic nuclear power plants.
Like the previous team, the 36th IAEA mission will work at South Ukraine NPP for three weeks. However, according to Vyacheslav Stoyanov, the plant's Director General, the plant is looking forward to the moment when meetings with international experts will take place under the peaceful Ukrainian sky.
