In October, activists of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society of the South Ukraine NPP held a charity fair of sweets. After reviewing requests from the military and consulting with volunteers, community members purchased devices, medicines, clothing, and other utilities for the money raised. The soldiers of the 123rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade received socks, gloves, and wet wipes. The aid was supplemented by medicines and flashlights sent by international partners.
Six thousand hryvnias were transferred to meet the needs of the signal operators from the rifle battalion fighting in the Kharkiv direction. The volunteers will use the money to buy heaters, odor neutralizers for feet and shoes, dry cleaning products for guns, burners, mini-stoves, and warm insoles. The National Guard also received reinforcement. UkrNS activists handed them two tripods. The military use these devices to make it easier to shoot from assault rifles and for other combat missions.
“We have another 2.5 thousand hryvnias raised from charity events, which we will also use for the needs of the Defense Forces. We will buy chemical heating pads for our military to keep them warm in this cold weather,” said Olena Vtoraya, head of the local branch of the UkrNS.
The union members are not stopping there – they plan to hold several more charity events before year-end.
