Energoatom warns of the risks of halting repairs at NPP units due to the actions of the State Enforcement Service

main

JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” officially declares that the decision to exclude the company from the list of enterprises subject to enforcement proceedings suspended during the period of martial law is extremely dangerous for the national energy security. This became the basis for the State Enforcement Service to forcibly collect UAH 126 million from Energoatom's account. These funds have already been withdrawn from the company's accounts instead of being used for financing the repair campaign of the power units.

Note that the write-off applies exclusively to the debt of the ZNPP, which is under russian occupation and, accordingly, under force majeure circumstances.

Further steps by the State Enforcement Service to write off funds from the company's account could lead to a critical financial situation for the enterprise.

Such decisions pose a real threat to:

  • the timely completion of scheduled repairs at nuclear power plants before the heating season;
  • the smooth operation of power units that provide up to 60% of the country's electricity;
  • the fulfillment of contracts with international partners;
  • social payments to more than 30,000 employees of the enterprise.

It is worth recalling that Energoatom not only guarantees stable electricity generation, but also fulfills a program of service obligations (PSO), supplying the lowest-priced electricity to the public.

In the current conditions of war, such a decision seems irresponsible, to say the least.

We urge the immediate:

  • reviewing and revoking the relevant order of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine;
  • restoring Energoatom's status as a critical infrastructure enterprise while maintaining the moratorium on the enforcement of decisions relating to its operational activities;
  • protecting the state-owned energy company from financial pressure that could destabilize the country's energy system ahead of the heating season.

Energoatom remains open to dialogue, but cannot stand by silently and watch steps being taken that threaten not only the company, but also millions of Ukrainians who depend on the stable operation of nuclear power generation.
