In March, the Lublin Triangle Economic Forum: Ukraine – Poland – Lithuania was held in Warsaw. Representatives of governments, state institutions and businesses of three countries discussed key aspects of cooperation in the fields of economy, energy and security.
Oleksandr Motsyk, Chief Adviser of Head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Head, who was a member of the Ukrainian delegation, commented that one of the central topics of the forum was the issue of energy security and nuclear industry development.

The participants discussed the current state of the Ukrainian power sector and the challenges facing the country. Despite the constant shelling of energy infrastructure, Ukraine successfully survived the most difficult winter in the history of independence – primarily owing to the heroism of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the courage of power industry employees, who promptly restored power lines, transformers and infrastructure after each attack.
Nuclear sector played an equally important role in stable energy supply. During the winter, NPPs generated more than half of all the country’s electricity, becoming a reliable pillar of Ukraine’s energy system.
In 2024, at the level of prime ministers, political statements were made regarding cooperation in nuclear field. As one of the leading European countries in this area, Ukraine demonstrates a confident position on the world stage as well. In this context, Poland’s plans for the construction of nuclear power units were discussed. There will be six reactors, three of which will be built using American AP1000 technology. Westinghouse will build them, and Energoatom already has the experience of cooperation with this company.
For example, we can share our experience with Polish colleagues in establishing this industry, legislative initiatives, and the development of international procedures for the construction of power units. Moreover, we have experienced specialists, in particular from the Zaporizhzhia NPP, who can be involved in performing certain works and personnel training.
The Lublin Forum has become a platform for not only making political statements and discussing topical issues. Such meetings allow for the exchange of business contacts, finding new partners and potential investors. As a rule, the dialogues initiated develop into specific projects.
