Students of the State University of Trade and Economics visited the office of NNEGC “Energoatom” to take part in an informative lecture-discussion organized by Directorate for Strategic Communications.
The relations between nuclear employees and students was dedicated to understanding the key nuclear concepts and forming a responsible attitude towards information relevant for nuclear field.
The students learned origin of “myths” about nuclear field, why critical thinking in the perception of media reports about NPP events is a required skill today, and how a clear explanation of complex processes facilitates strengthening public trust in the industry.
The meeting became an accessible and modern introduction to the world of Ukrainian nuclear sector. It was held in the format of live interaction: VR glasses, use of a dosimeter, review of mockups of a nuclear power plant and a power unit, as well as free questions asked by the audience created an atmosphere of interested dialogue. The mentioned approach allowed them to see energy not only as a complex science, but also as an integrated part of the life of society.
Students were actively involved in the discussion and noted that such events facilitated their better understanding of the role of nuclear industry for the safety, resilience and development of Ukraine. The meeting left behind a sincere interest and confidence that young people are committed to orient themselves with respect to topics important for the future of our state.
