Atomenergomash quality system meets Westinghouse requirements, according to the official certificate received by JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” from Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB. Qualification of SS “AEM” is valid until April 29, 2028.
“Energoatom not only ensures stable operation of the Ukrainian energy system, but also develops the domestic nuclear industry according to high standards, that is confirmed by the world’s leading industry companies. There is still a lot of work ahead, but another step has been taken toward manufacturing fuel assemblies in Ukraine; this is a significant achievement,” Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin emphasized.
Previously, the Company received a license from Westinghouse to manufacture fuel assembly bottom nozzles in Ukraine.
As a reminder, based on a separate subdivision of Energoatom its own nuclear fuel assembly production line is being establishing. The first Ukrainian fuel assembly will be loaded into the reactor core of the power unit in 2027. In the future, NNEGC plans to provide itself with 50% of its nuclear fuel, and the other half will be obtained from Westinghouse partners.
