Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin said on the Energo LIVE program that NNEGC received a positive response from Westinghouse regarding the licensing of nuclear fuel assembly elements.

Energoatom’s manufacturing plant is implementing the project using Westinghouse technology. Earlier, the Ukrainian company completed the licensing of fuel assembly top nozzles. Now, NNEGC has received a license from Westinghouse to manufacture fuel assembly bottom nozzles in Ukraine as well.

“From next year, we will start supplying both top and bottom nozzles manufactured at Energoatom's facilities to Westinghouse. That is, some of the elements required for the fabrication of fuel assemblies will be manufactured in Ukraine. This is a great achievement,” said Petro Kotin.

As a reminder, Energoatom's own line for the fabrication of nuclear fuel assemblies is being created using the facilities of a separated subdivision. Starting from 2026, due to its in-house fabrication, NNEGC plans to provide itself with nuclear fuel by 50%, while the other half will be received from partners from Westinghouse.

NNEGC professionals have also developed their own design of the VVER-440 absorber assembly. After obtaining a license, Energoatom will be able to manufacture and supply these absorber assemblies to EU countries.
