Energoatom conducts an active cooperation with specialized higher education institutions of Ukraine, in particular with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where Department of Nuclear Physics trains specialists for nuclear power industry.

On May 29, the University hosted a career event with the participation of Bohdan Shmyhelskyi, Executive Director for Human Resources of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”. Vitalii Lytus, Deputy Chief Engineer for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Khmelnytskyi NPP, a graduate of Physics Faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1996), also participated in the event.

The meeting between Energoatom representatives and students and teachers of Physics Faculty and other University faculties was held in the format of a constructive dialogue. The students got information about the advantages and prospects of working at the Company, including career opportunities, salary, social packages, medical insurance, etc. They also became familiarized with the list of specialties that could be used for employment at nuclear power plants and other subdivisions of Energoatom.

The large number of questions the students asked during the communication demonstrated their interest in work for the nuclear industry. It is significant that future nuclear physicists were interested in profession-specific topics. For example, safety culture, nuclear fuel for Ukrainian NPPs, the evolution of incore inspection systems, and others. They also asked about the possibility of further operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP units after deoccupation, about the role of the Kakhovka reservoir for the ZNPP. Energoatom specialists gave comprehensive answers to all questions.

The management and professors of Physics Faculty emphasize the importance of such events, which provide for direct communication between representatives of the leading employer in the energy sector of Ukraine and students. In fact, this is a way of forming the students’ clear vision of how they can join the team of NNEGC “Energoatom” and build their career in the Company.
