During a meeting with RNPP management and SNRIU representatives, IAEA experts shared the monitoring results and handed over all necessary materials and developments to a new team of experts from the United States and Spain. They will work at RNPP for the next three weeks to monitor nuclear safety and security issues. The program of their stay includes observations, walkthroughs, inspections, meetings, and interviewing personnel.
The executives of Rivne NPP expressed gratitude to the IAEA representatives for their professionalism and effective cooperation, which contributed to the transparency and safety of the enterprise. “The permanent presence of the IAEA mission is an important element in ensuring nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine. We continue to work closely with the Agency, providing all necessary conditions for their work,” said Ihor Kurinnyi, RNPP First Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer.
The experts emphasized the high responsibility of the Ukrainian side to comply with international safety standards despite all the challenges the country faced.
As a reminder, the mission, which has been permanently located at Energoatom's nuclear power plants since January 2023, is aimed at monitoring compliance with the seven indispensable pillars of nuclear safety and security, including NPP security, as well as providing technical advice and information, taking into account the experience of the Agency's specialists.
