Rivne NPP presented cybersecurity experience at an international conference in Norway

The event was held during a week at the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) in Halden, Norway. Conference attendees included representatives of the IAEA, the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), the FinNuclear Association, the EPRI Institute, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, etc. In total, over fifty experts from Norway, Sweden, Canada, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK, Finland, Portugal, and other countries joined the event.

Rivne NPP employees represented Ukraine at the event: Ihor Savchuk, Head of the International Cooperation and Technical Assistance Department; Mykola Svidryk, Head of the Information Technology Service; and Eduard Omelchuk, Reactor Unit Operator of Reactor Shop 1.

The conference covered operation (commissioning and decommissioning), maintenance, and sustainable life cycle management in the nuclear sector focusing on artificial intelligence use, digitalization, and robotics to ensure safety and improve efficiency. The focus was on new initiatives and state-of-the-art technologies, sustainability and closed-loop economy, risk and safety management, the role of artificial intelligence, data, and robotics in compliance with safety requirements, as well as their application in other safety-critical industries.

Rivne nuclear power professionals presented the company's experience on "Cybersecurity as a Component of Nuclear Safety". The report describes the state of cybersecurity at the Company and RNPP in particular, the current regulatory framework, as well as plans for further development in this area.
