Young mathematicians discover the world of nuclear power

main

On December 17, Energoatom held a regular educational meeting of the Company's specialists with Kyiv schoolchildren. This time, senior high students of the physicomathematical class of the Scandinavian Gymnasium visited the nuclear power professionals.

Good storytelling, augmented reality glasses, and models of a nuclear power plant helped young mathematicians appreciate the complex and fascinating world of nuclear power. After all, three-dimensional models provide an opportunity to see what a nuclear power plant and its essential equipment look like, as well as understand the electricity generation process.

The students learned about the design features of different types of reactors and NPP safety systems. They also knew how nuclear power plants prevent exposure to ionizing radiation and emergencies.

Current trends in attitudes toward nuclear energy, such as the use of NPPs to reduce emissions and combat climate change, were also discussed.

Remarkably, young people's interest in the nuclear industry is not diminishing, so it was hoped that the students participating in today's meeting would become future power engineers and scientists who will develop and improve nuclear energy in Ukraine and the world.
