In May, specialists of NNEGC “Energoatom” held three informative lectures on nuclear energy for 8th grade students of Kyiv schools.
One of the lectures, dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, had an eloquent title – “Lessons of Chernobyl: how the tragedy changed nuclear industry”. The lecturers spoke about the fundamental changes occurred in the industry after the disaster, and how the lessons learned made nuclear sector safer and more responsible.
Two more lectures were dedicated to a topic that traditionally raised many questions among young people – the impact of NPPs on the environment.
The pupils, who will soon begin studying nuclear physics, actively joined the discussion, asked relevant questions and participated in an interactive survey, which allowed them to immediately solidify the heard aspects.
The specific feature of the program, as always, was a VR excursion to a Ukrainian nuclear power plant – an emotional and visually rich experience teaching more than a dozen paragraphs. Both teachers and pupils were enthusiastically immersed in the virtual journey.
Energoatom consistently builds a bridge between modern science and the younger generation. Such initiatives work for the future – those help schoolchildren not only better understand complex topics, but also think about nuclear energy as their potential professional future.
