Energoatom and Sumy Regional Military Administration will cooperate in nuclear power development

On March 27, Head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin and Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Artyukh signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The parties agreed on:

  • joining efforts to improve safety, reliability and efficiency of the equipment of power units of Ukrainian NPPs;
  • the possibility of supplying spare parts to branches “SE NPPs”;
  • localization of equipment production at enterprises of the Sumy region to create new jobs;
  • promoting the training of qualified personnel in nuclear industry and mechanical engineering, as well as the development of scientific research and educational initiatives aimed at implementing research and development for the nuclear industry;
  • carrying out measures to increase the level of environmental awareness of residents of the region, informing about the safety status and environmental impact of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

Energoatom and Sumy Regional Military Administration will consider the potential of regional production capacities for the needs of nuclear power, in particular in the production of pumps, pipelines, heat exchangers and other technological components.

“For Sumy region, cooperation with Energoatom is not only an opportunity to strengthen the economy of the region, but also an important contribution to the energy independence of Ukraine. We are ready to mobilize the scientific, production and educational potential of the region for the development of a strategically important industry - nuclear power. This partnership opens up new horizons for investments, innovations and job creation,” said Volodymyr Artyukh.

According to Head of NNEGC, cooperation with Sumy Regional Military Administration will be an important step in strengthening the nuclear industry of Ukraine.

“Sumy region is known for its highly qualified specialists working at leading technological enterprises. In addition, this region has many years of experience and significant potential of production facilities that meet the needs of completing KhNPP-3, KhNPP-4 and building new power units. “Joining efforts, the experience of specialists, and the active support of the regional administration will ensure effective work for the benefit of the development of the nuclear industry of our country,” Petro Kotin said.
