Acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Pavlo Kovtoniuk held a working meeting with representatives of the coordination and technical mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the site of the Affiliate – SS “Emergency Technical Centre”.
Pavlo Kovtoniuk informed the IAEA representatives about the specifics of Energoatom’s operations amid the full-scale war and the key challenges facing Ukraine’s nuclear operator.
“Safe operation of nuclear power plants and preparedness to respond to emergencies remain among Energoatom’s key priorities. Strengthening the capabilities of the Emergency Technical Centre is an important part of this work,” Pavlo Kovtoniuk emphasized.
The meeting was also attended by Oleh Korikov, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine and Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the IAEA and the Ukrainian operator as part of the missions deployed at NPP sites, as well as of strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s power system ahead of the autumn and winter period.
During the visit, the IAEA representatives inspected the technical capabilities of the Emergency Technical Centre and were briefed the operation of its dispatch service.
