During an online press conference with Ukrainian journalists in Abu Dhabi, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi discussed various aspects of security, including energy. He highlighted the importance of developing all types of energy, particularly nuclear generation.
The Head of State stressed that nuclear power plays a key role in the stability of Ukraine's energy system, especially in times of war. According to him, the country could have been in a critical situation for three winters in a row unless the operation of Ukrainian NPPs – it was nuclear energy that helped to hold the energy frontline.
As for Zaporizhzhia NPP, the President believes that ZNPP is a security guarantee for both Ukraine and Europe. The plant will be able to generate electricity only when it returns to the Ukrainian operator.
“ZNPP is a security guarantee! These are important conditions. Today, the plant is out of operation. It will not operate, it is just impossible without us. And we will produce electricity for our consumers and sell it to Europe!” he emphasized.
