The Law of Ukraine “On the purchase of equipment necessary for the construction of Units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant” was published in the official parliamentary newspaper “Holos Ukrainy” on March 15, 2025.
Among other things, the aforementioned law grants Energoatom permission to conclude an agreement with the state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding for the procurement of equipment necessary for the future construction of Units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytskyi NPP. In particular, this concerns nuclear reactor vessels, components for those and other related equipment.
The law enters into force on the day following the day of its publication.
As a reminder, the completion of Units 3 and 4 of the the Khmelnytskyi NPP will provide more than 2 GW of additional capacity to the Ukrainian power system, ensure the creation of new jobs, and strengthen Ukraine’s energy security.
