ZNPP off-site power restored – Ukrainian energy workers repair the Ferrosplavna-1 line

On September 7 at 19:02, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP’s house loads were reconnected to the 330 kV Ferrosplavna-1 overhead line. The plant’s current power consumption is 11 MW.

Off-site power was restored owing to the professional activities of Ukrainian energy workers and an agreed local ceasefire, which created the necessary conditions for repair activities to be carried out on the damaged line.

It was Ukrainian specialists who, despite the serious threat posed by the unpredictable actions of the occupiers and persistent safety risks, carried out the necessary work to reconnect the plant to Ukraine’s Integrated Power System.

The ZNPP had been without off-site power since August 20. Throughout this period, the plant’s critical systems were powered by diesel generators. Operating in this mode posed additional risks to the nuclear and radiation safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

At the same time, nuclear and radiation safety at the ZNPP can only be fully guaranteed after the plant is liberated from occupation and returned to the control of Ukraine and its sole legitimate operator – Energoatom.
