People who have gone through the fire of war are writing the modern history of Ukrainian power industry. Among them is Vladyslav Kerusenko, a fitter for repairing heating network equipment of the municipal sector of the Affiliate SE “Khmelnytskyi NPP”.
At the age of 19, when most young people are just looking for their way in life, he encountered a full-scale war at a combat post, where he served in the 3rd operational brigade of the Petro Bolbochan Spartan National Guard Unit of Ukraine.
In July 2022, in Slobozhanshchyna battles, he suffered a serious shrapnel wound because of tank shelling. Having lost about two liters of blood due to a complex wound, Vladyslav miraculously survived and, after three months of rehabilitation, stepped back into the rank.
In early 2023, Vladyslav’s unit was redeployed to Bakhmut – for several weeks in continuous hell under heavy fire. At the age of 20, the fellow learned to live for the moment, and his biggest worry was to have time to write a short message to his mother through the overloaded Starlink: “Alive”.
Even after a severe concussion from a direct hit in the dugout, Vladyslav did not think about himself – overcoming the pain, he applied tourniquets to wounded comrades, saved others when he himself could barely stand on his feet.
In March 2024, after two and a half years of military service, Vladyslav returned to the reserve and immediately resumed work at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. For his personal courage and dedication, he was awarded the state award – the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine”, and received the honorary corporate award of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom, “Guard of Light”.
Today, he takes care of the reliable operation of the Khmelnytskyi NPP infrastructure and the well-being of his hometown. The life path of Vladyslav Kerusenko is an example of true patriotism, courage and devotion to his country.
