Another “expert” on energy issues published an article with false accusations against NNEGC “Energoatom” on the pages of one of the media. An obvious sign of the manipulative nature of the publication is its clickbait headline.
To the attention of all “experts” speculating on the energy market subject, we declare:
Since the introduction of the financial PSO, NNEGC has fulfilled all its obligations on time and in full scope. In the conditions of russian aggression (occupation of the ZNPP, damage to the energy infrastructure, reduction in electricity consumption), there has been a significant drop in the Company’s financial benefits. As soon as Energoatom had the opportunity, the Company immediately started to pay debts for the PSO service and paid it in full at the end of 2024.
Any accusations of creating artificial debts are absurd, because the debt problem is systematic in the electricity market, and it arose due to difficulties in the operation of the “Guaranteed Buyer” mechanisms, caused by the low solvency of market participants. It was Energoatom that suffered enormous financial losses due to those non-payments, while continuing uninterrupted electricity production.
The amount of UAH 4.1 billion mentioned in the article is based on legally objective calculations. These funds are compensation for delayed payments by universal service providers (USPs), who were obliged to pay for the electricity supplied. An attempt to present these actions as “racket” is a distortion of the real state of affairs. Any insinuations about the “artificiality” of these charges are a bare-faced lie.
The assertions that the Company has received excess profits from tariff increases are blatantly false. On the contrary, NNEGC “Energoatom” continues to bear a social burden, allocating about 60% of its income to fulfill special obligations to supply electricity to the population under a flat rate. Energoatom does not receive a single additional hryvnia from the increase in power rate; since it does not sell electricity directly to household consumers (this is done by USPs).
Despite all the challenges of wartime, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” continues to work transparently and effectively, ensuring the energy independence of Ukraine.
Once again, we call for a responsible approach by mass media representatives in covering the activities of the strategic enterprise of Ukraine. We insist on the need to verify information and receive official comments directly from the Company’s press service.
