Completing power units 3 and 4 at Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant is a strategically important project for Ukraine that will significantly influence every citizen.
Completing these units will increase electricity production by more than 15 billion kWh per year, which will significantly strengthen the country's energy security and reduce dependence on electricity imports.
The commissioning of the new power units will create thousands of jobs, during both construction and their operation. This will positively affect the economic development of the region and the country as a whole. In addition, the increase in electricity production may lead to stabilization or even reduction of consumer tariffs.
There are myths about the use of russian fuel. However, Ukraine has completely abandoned cooperation with russian suppliers in the nuclear sector. KhNPP units 3 and 4 will operate exclusively on fuel from the U.S. Westinghouse or on fuel produced in Ukraine using Westinghouse technology.
Completing units will allow the replacement of the capacity of old power units that will reach the end of their lifetime after 2030, ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply for Ukrainians.
Thus, completing Khmelnytskyi NPP units 3 and 4 is a major step towards ensuring energy independence, economic development, and improving the quality of life for every Ukrainian.
