On January 9, a meeting between Head of NNEGC Petro Kotin and the top management of its strategic partner, Holtec, was held at the Energoatom office.

Dr. Kris Singh, Holtec CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors, and Kelly Trice, Holtec International President, joined the event online from New Jersey, while Riaz Awan, Holtec International Vice President, was present in Kyiv. Oleh Korikov, Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, and heads of separate subdivisions of NNEGC also attended the meeting.

The main topic was the development of joint preliminary groundwork. Energoatom and Holtec have three key areas of cooperation:

  •  development of a plant for the production of small modular reactor parts and components for the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility;
  •  construction of a joint Energoatom-Holtec engineering and training center;
  •  implementation of SMR-300 technology in Ukraine.

Dr. Kris Singh stressed the priority of cooperation with Energoatom, despite all the challenges.

“It is our privilege to support your country during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. It is important that we are already coordinating our cooperation and taking steps to accelerate its implementation,” Holtec CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors emphasized.

Petro Kotin accentuated that the cooperation of the companies was designed to strengthen the nuclear potential of Ukraine and make it a European hub of the industry.

“We are not wasting time and together with Holtec are developing plans for new projects that will support Ukraine in its post-war reconstruction. Our American partners will be an important player in this direction, helping to create well-paid jobs for our specialists,” Head of Energoatom said.
