Nuclear power plants remain the backbone of Ukraine’s power system. During the first six months of the year, Ukraine’s NPPs generated 26,820.1 million kW⋅h of electricity, 163.1 million kW⋅h more than during the same period last year.
The increase in electricity generation was made possible, in particular, by the effective planning of the maintenance campaign, strict adherence to approved schedules, and the early completion of planned activities.
This enables Energoatom to maximize electricity production, meet and exceed its production targets, and prepare the power units for reliable operation during the upcoming heating season in a timely manner.
Ukraine’s NPPs generate the largest share of the country’s electricity. According to data on the structure of electricity production and consumption for 2019–2025, published by the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine, the share of electricity generated by nuclear power plants exceeded 67% during certain period.
