At the request of journalists, acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin published some indicators of the Company performance in 2024.
In 2024, NNEGC generated 53 bln kWh of electricity. This is 2% higher than in 2023 and 12% higher than in 2022. At the same time, the Company exceeded the plan and delivered 1 bln kWh more electricity to the power grid.
During the heating season (from January to March and from October to December), from 5 to almost 6 bln kWh were produced monthly, and during the repair campaign in the warm season –from 3 to 4 billion kWh per month.
Last year, Energoatom held on the practice of reducing the total duration of power unit outages, reducing them by another 59 days. The repair campaign was planned in such a way that during the cold season, including now, all nine power units located in the territory controlled by Ukraine would operate.
In 2024, NNEGC “Energoatom” allocated UAH 116.3 bln (VAT excluded) of its internal funds or 58% of its net income to PSO payment, that is, to support fixed electricity residential tariff.
In 2024, the Company paid UAH 28.8 bln for taxes to budgets at all levels, which is 35% more than in 2023.
According to acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin, despite the loss of 45% of nuclear generation due to the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and constant attacks on energy infrastructure facilities, NNEGC “Energoatom” continues to operate in a stable mode, providing over 60% of the electricity needs of citizens and the economy.
In 2024, important factors for the successful Company performance were:
– effective management decisions made in previous years, especially regarding the conditions of the Company operation during martial law, safe operation of nuclear reactors and protection of facilities;
– complete rejection of russian spare parts and nuclear fuel with a respective change of suppliers and transition to American nuclear fuel;
– effective cooperation of Energoatom with American companies – Westinghouse Electric and Holtec International, with the Canadian Cameco and the British Urenco;
– more than two years of successful operation of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility, which allowed the Company to save more than USD 200 mln and recover the costs of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility construction.
“The positive results of Energoatom performance in 2024, its enormous and unchallenged importance for the economy and energy security of the state, as well as social support for Ukrainians during the war, prove the high efficiency of domestic nuclear generation and the need for its long term development,” Petro Kotin said.
