Prospects and directions of development of nuclear generation discussed at the energy forum “X Business & Legal Energy Forum 2025”

On September 23, the “X Business & Legal Energy Forum 2025”, one of the leading annual events in the energy sector, was held in Kyiv. This year, the focus is on the challenges and prospects for the development of Ukrainian generation in the context of the restoration and transformation of the energy system.

The forum was attended by people’s deputies, representatives of government departments, relevant ministries, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” and businesses.

During the day, the following topics were discussed:

  • strategic threats to the energy sector and international support;
  • generation as the foundation of the new energy system of Ukraine;
  • access to energy resources and investment issues.

During a panel discussion on the topic “Generation as the basis for the restoration of the energy system", representatives of Energoatom emphasized the importance of European approaches to regulation and taxation in the energy sector. The discussion also focused on improving financial mechanisms in the electricity market; it is a guarantee of steady operation of energy generating companies.

Special attention was paid to the development of nuclear industry. Special attention was paid to the development of nuclear industry. The Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 provides for an increase in nuclear generation capacities, and this will ensure reliable power supply in the long term.

As a result, the forum participants came to a common conclusion: the world is experiencing a renaissance of nuclear energy, and Ukraine should be among the leaders of these processes. In conditions of war and energy terror, the development of the nuclear industry is not only an economic necessity, but also a matter of national security and energy independence.
