Acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Pavlo Kovtonyuk met with a delegation from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway and Members of the Parliament of Ukraine at the site of the Affiliate – SS “Emergency Technical Center” (ETC).
During the visit, the parliamentarians were introduced to the affiliate’s equipment, including robotic systems and specialized vehicles. ETC specialists also demonstrated the subdivision’s capabilities in conducting radiation and engineering reconnaissance, as well as responding to emergencies at nuclear energy facilities.
According to Pavlo Kovtonyuk, head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, Ukraine and Norway have been successfully cooperating in the field of nuclear and radiation safety for more than ten years. During this period, 12 joint projects have been completed; moreover, another nine projects are at various stages of implementation.
“We are deeply grateful to our Norwegian partners for their consistent support for Ukraine’s nuclear industry, especially during the full-scale war, when the enemy is deliberately targeting the country’s energy infrastructure,” Pavlo Kovtonyuk emphasized.
“We support Ukraine’s ambition to develop nuclear sector. It is extremely important for us to help protect Ukraine’s power system and to contribute to the further development of its nuclear industry, given its crucial role in ensuring the country’s energy security,” said Mani Hussaini, Chair of the Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway.
The visit was organized with the support of Serhii Nahorniak, Chair of the Sub-committee on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency, in cooperation with JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”. The discussions focused on the further development of the Ukrainian-Norwegian partnership in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, as well as continued support for Ukraine’s nuclear sector.
