NNEGC “Energoatom” refutes another wave of disinformation published by Ya. Zhelezniak, Member of Parliament, regarding the Company financial statements

main

Energoatom is once again forced to respond to false allegations and outright manipulations spread by Member of the Ukrainian Parliament Ya. Zhelezniak.

The latest statements by Member of Parliament regarding alleged financial abuses at Energoatom are nothing more than a continuation of his targeted media attacks on the strategic state-owned enterprise.

We emphasize that NNEGC “Energoatom” carries out its activities in an honest and open manner, informing the public about this. All reports of the Company are public and transparent, developed in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and are audited and reviewed by an independent supervisory board in accordance with the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance.

Regarding financial transactions. As of 01/01/2025, Energoatom received advance payments for January 2025 for UAH 8 billion 134 million. The balance of funds amounted to UAH 8 billion 19 million, of which UAH 3 billion 900 million are special-purpose funds used exclusively to finance the purchase of nuclear materials and the implementation of the Euratom project to improve the NPP safety. The rest (UAH 4 billion 116 million) are intended to cover priority expenses: payment of salaries, taxes and PSO.

Fulfillment of public service obligations (PSO). In 2024, the Company not only fully compensated the difference in residential tariffs, but also repaid debts for PSO of previous years. In total, in 2024, the amount of UAH 145 billion 356 million was paid for the PSO service. According to contractual obligations, at the end of 2024, the estimated cost of the PSO service was UAH 19 billion 569 million. From January 2 to 20, 2025, NNEGC was to pay UAH 15 billion 655 million for the service in four stages – UAH 3 billion 914 million each; that required the accumulation of significant funds for the timely fulfillment of mentioned obligations. The PSO costs are the key factor affecting the profitability and net profit of NNEGC.

Tax deductions. The Company remains one of the largest taxpayers in Ukraine. For 2022-2024, taxes and fees for UAH 79.9 billion were paid to the state budget and budgets of all levels. For the first three months of 2025, the Company has already allocated UAH 12.6 billion to the budget: in taxes, mandatory payments and a single contribution to mandatory state social insurance.

Amortization expenses. The increase in amortization expenses is associated with the revaluation of assets in the process of corporatization, which was carried out in accordance with current legislation and international corporate governance standards, as well as due to the consequences of the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by russian invaders.

Administrative expenses. The increase in administrative expenses in 2024 compared to 2022 was 54%, and from 2023 – only 32%. At the same time, the basic consumer price index for that period increased almost twice (205.6%); that confirms the validity and controllability of the Company expenses.

Moreover, since the beginning of the russian aggression against Ukraine, Energoatom has been constantly assisting the security and defense forces, transferring funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and purchasing material and technical means for the defenders of Ukraine, as well as providing medical rehabilitation for Ukrainian military. In particular, about UAH 14.9 billion was allocated for the needs of military personnel, 50 units of vehicles, a wide range of communication, protection, and computer equipment were transferred, and almost 7 thousand Ukrainian soldiers underwent treatment and rehabilitation in medical and health institutions.

Against the background of above-mentioned facts, a rhetorical question arises: what can Member of Parliament Ya. Zhelezniak boast about, besides his constant attempts to discredit the activities of Energoatom, on which the country’s energy front is held?!

Instead of final attempts to understanding the essence of the concept of deferred tax liabilities, First Vice Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy spends time spreading fakes eagerly picked up and shared by russian propaganda.

Despite all the challenges of wartime, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” continues to operate transparently and effectively, ensuring the energy resilience of Ukraine.
