On March 28, representatives of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine visited the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the achievements within the framework of the implemented international technical assistance provided by the Government of Norway, as well as the prospects for further cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
Since 2017, measures to increase the level of physical protection, in cooperation with the governments of Ukraine and Norway, have been implemented at the Khmelnytskyi NPP site.
The participants of the meeting, including the Khmelnytskyi NPP management and representatives of the international delegation, discussed the results of joint initiatives and became acquainted with the strategic plans within the framework of the NANSEN program.
Within the framework of the visit, an industrial site tour was conducted. That allowed us to see in practice the implemented measures to increase safety.
Particular attention was paid to potential areas of future cooperation that would contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence.

Norway continues to support Ukraine in ensuring nuclear safety and strengthening energy sustainability. Key areas of international support are focused on:
- strengthening dialogue and cooperation with relevant authorities;
- increasing safety levels of nuclear facilities;
- combating illicit trafficking of radioactive materials;
- mapping and enhanced control radiation contamination of sources;
- information exchange regarding nuclear safety and radiation contamination.
