On the eve of the third anniversary of the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” made a detailed comment to “The Ukrainian Review” on the current situation at the largest Ukrainian nuclear power plant, which has been under the control of russian troops since March 2022.
Petro Kotin spoke about the consequences of the russian occupation, threats for safety, and the heroic efforts of the personnel who had ensured the vital functions of the plant in extremely difficult conditions until February 2023.
The material discloses the history of the seizure of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by russian troops, current threats to nuclear safety, as well as an assessment of the damage caused by this act of nuclear terrorism to the energy system of Ukraine.
