On December 09, the Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World (PAEW) brought together educators, business, energy and environmental organizations at the 6th Annual Forum “Ukrainian Contour of the Future: How Business and Universities Create the Country’s Capability”.
The participants included specialists from JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”.
One of the topics for discussion was the issue of forming the state pool in wartime. PAEW President Liudmyla Tsyhanok presented the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles and emphasized their remaining significance right now: future reconstruction requires responsible decisions and sustainable approaches.
President of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UkrNS), Volodymyr Kholosha, also attended the event. He spoke about the implementation of ESG principles in Energoatom activities, joint initiatives of the company, UkrNS and universities, and emphasized that during the reconstruction – in particular, the elimination of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster – many professions, including technical ones, have a distinct environmental dimension.
The event demonstrated that even in wartime conditions, ecology, education and safety remain the foundation of Ukraine’s future resilience.
As a reminder, NNEGC and PAEW keep on implementing joint initiatives within the framework of the memorandum: improving environmental awareness, informing about NPP safety, developing environmental education and bringing standards closer to European ones. One of the results of this partnership was the EcoEducation virtual academy, established in cooperation with the Ukrainian Nuclear Society and the Office of Sustainable Solutions.
