JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” is assessing the consequences of the russian drone attack on the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility and preparing to restore damaged premises, Acting CEO Pavlo Kovtonyuk said.
Specialists from the Commission for inspecting damaged equipment, structures, and buildings at the CSFSF site confirmed that the load-bearing structures were undamaged. They are currently calculating the exact amount of damage.
According to the head of the company, Energoatom will restore the damaged premises on its own within a month and a half. The procurement process for construction materials needed for the repairs is currently underway.
As a reminder, overnight into June 6–7, a drone strike partially destroyed the container reception building at the CSFSF (no spent nuclear fuel was stored there at the time).
The CSFSF is a strategic Energoatom facility designed for the long-term storage of spent nuclear fuel from Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Its commissioning allowed Ukraine to stop shipping spent fuel to russia and strengthen its energy independence.
