Energoatom and the Ukrainian Energy initiative implement an educational project

main

From September to October, Energoatom, together with the Ukrainian Energy Initiative – a cooperation platform of the UN Global Compact in Ukraine – is implementing a joint educational project on nuclear energy. The program includes lectures and tours focusing on the operation of the nuclear industry.

On September 3, an introductory lecture entitled “Nuclear Energy: Technologies, Safety and Environmental Impact” was held at the Company’s Directorate. Participants learned how nuclear power plants operate, what types of reactors exist, how nuclear fuel is utilized, and how plant safety and environmental protection are ensured.

Particular attention was paid to the situation at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, including the provision of water and electricity to the plant during the war. Participants were able to appreciate the scale of Europe’s largest NPP through a three-dimensional model of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and a virtual tour of the plant.

The participants also received copies of The Royal Gambit, a work of fiction about the occupation of the ZNPP based on documentary materials and eyewitness information.

As the project continues, participants will meet with specialists from various affiliates of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” and visit the Emergency Technical Centre and the satellite town of one of Ukraine’s NPPs.
