NNEGC “Energoatom” keeps on actively developing international partnerships, in particular with the French company EDF – one of the world leaders in nuclear industry. Within the framework of cooperation enhancement, at the invitation of EDF, a Ukrainian delegation headed by Acting First Vice President - Technical Director of Energoatom Oleksandr Ostapovets paid a four-day visit to France.

Specialists of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” and the branch “SS “Emergency Technical Center” learned more about the arrangement of emergency preparedness and response system of Framatome, EDF, FARN and the Bugey NPP.

Ukrainian nuclear employees became acquainted with the specific features of emergency response to radiation and nuclear threats through the example of the Bugey NPP. French colleagues demonstrated the arrangement, technical equipment and means used for plant safety.

During the visit to the Paris Emergency Response Center, the main attention was paid to the structure of the center, its functional capabilities, as well as the distribution of authorities and the process of forming response groups.

“France is a state with the most powerful nuclear sector in Europe, and it is extremely important for us to build systematic cooperation with such partners. Under conditions of war, when the safety issue becomes critical, we do not just adopt experience, but lay the foundations for deeper, strategic interaction,” Oleksandr Ostapovets emphasized.

That visit not only strengthened professional connections between Energoatom and EDF, but also opened up new opportunities for further exchange of technologies, knowledge and joint response to modern challenges.

In 2024, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” and EDF signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Nuclear Power Industry. This document provides for studing opportunities for potential cooperation in the implementation of new nuclear facilities in Ukraine, as well as in supporting safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Ukrainian nuclear fleet.
