The parties agreed to collaborate on the following issues:
- informing the public about the safety situation and environmental impact of Ukrainian NPPs;
- raising the level of ecological awareness and environmental consciousness of citizens;
- achievement by Ukraine of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of environment, climate, and energy.
Petro Kotin emphasized that Energoatom is interested in cooperating with environmentalists to destroy myths about the nuclear industry.
"It is important to explain how nuclear power plants operate. The energy produced by NPPs is much cleaner than other types of generation, in particular heat generation, which is not environmentally friendly. That is why the European Commission has included nuclear energy in the list of "green" sources. So I hope we will be able to establish a fruitful partnership," said the head of NNEGC.
In turn, Olena Demianiuk expressed her readiness to cooperate with the Company, in particular, to improve Ukraine's environmental and energy security and develop environmental projects. "Joint efforts will bring fruitful outcomes for the benefit of our country," she added.
Oksana Drebot, Director of the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of NAAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor, noted that due to the signed Memorandum, the NGO and Energoatom would be able to cooperate in scientific areas. "Science and production should be combined. After all, sometimes science has the last word in decision-making," she stressed.
