The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi, at the invitation and with the support of the Government of the Republic of Austria, organized a summer camp for children of Ukrainian nuclear professionals.
Over the course of two weeks, 30 children of employees of Ukrainian NPPs and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine took part in cultural and educational activities in Krakow and Vienna and also visited the Falkencamp – youth camp, located in the picturesque lake region of Austria’s Carinthia region in Döbriach.
The boys and girls had an opportunity to learn more about Austrian history, culture and traditions, as well as make new friends. The children were once again able to experience the joy of being in a peaceful and safe environment, free from air raid alerts. The final highlight of the trip was a visit to the Vienna International Centre and a meeting with the IAEA leadership and representatives of the Austrian and Ukrainian governments, during which the participants shared their impressions and expressed their gratitude for organizing the trip.
The initiative is another example of international support for Ukrainian nuclear professionals, who have been working amid the full-scale war for more than four years, ensuring the stable operation of the country’s power system, and for their families.
