On December 12, Artem Nekrasov, Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Danutsa, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, and Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, visited the Khmelnytskyi NPP. During the trip, the participants inspected critical infrastructure facilities and reviewed progress on repair and restoration work at the plant’s site.
At the production meeting, it was emphasized that in wartime, nuclear power generation remains a key pillar of the energy system. It is thanks to the stable operation of nuclear power plants that the country can provide electricity for defense needs, critical infrastructure, and consumers.
“Without the nuclear industry, we simply would not have survived these four years of war. I’m grateful to the nuclear power workers for their endurance, professionalism, and work, which keeps the country going,” said Artem Nekrasov.
Pavlo Kovtonyuk stressed that Energoatom has begun a series of modernization measures at operating units, which will strengthen the power system by an additional 300 MW. The Khmelnytskyi NPP has been designated as the pilot site for such work.
“For us, this is not just a power augmentation. It is an improvement in the flexibility and reliability of generation, which directly affects energy security,” he said.
People's Deputy Oleksandr Danutsa highlighted the need to further strengthen the security and defense of all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
At the end of the visit, KhNPP employees were awarded certificates of appreciation and commendations for their professionalism and responsible work in wartime conditions.
