On June 6, 2023, the russian occupiers destroyed the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, endangering the nuclear and radiation safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP

main

On this day, two years ago, the invaders caused one of the largest man-made disasters in Europe – they deliberately blew up the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir.

Another act of terror led to the death of peaceful Ukrainians, caused irreparable damage to the flora and fauna of the entire region, and put at risk the nuclear and radiation safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which was receiving water from the reservoir for cooling power units.

After three years of occupation, the condition of ZNPP equipment is continuing to degrade, and negligible attempts to connect the plant to the russian power grid are failing. The Zaporizhzhia NPP can be in operation only in Ukraine and for the needs of Ukrainians.

Therefore, we emphasize once again: the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant should be immediately returned to the full control of Ukraine and its legal operator, Energoatom, and russia must withdraw its military and equipment from the plant. Only in this way the world will obtain a guarantee that peaceful atom will remain peaceful in the future.
