On this day in 1977, Unit 1 of the Chernobyl NPP was connected to the power grid. Since then, nuclear generation has become the basis for the development of the country energy sector.
Today, nuclear generation in Ukraine consists of four nuclear power plants with 15 power units. Despite the fact that the largest NPP in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, is temporarily occupied by the russian military, nuclear power units in the territory controlled by Ukraine consistently produce about 50% of all the country’s electricity. This makes nuclear generation a key component of Ukraine’s energy security and independence.
Ukrainian nuclear industry is not only steady production, but also ambitious projects, the introduction of new nuclear technologies and partnerships with world-leading companies. All these factors are for strengthening the energy resilience of the state and providing Ukrainian families with clean and affordable electricity.
