December 10 is a significant date for Ukrainian nuclear industry

main

Forty-one years ago, on December 10, 1984, Zaporizhzhia NPP power unit 1 was connected to the power grid.  It was from this moment that the history of Europe's largest nuclear power plant began – a history created by Ukrainian specialists with their own hands, knowledge, and incredible dedication to their work.

Two years later, on December 10, 1986, power unit 3 was put into operation – another step forward taken by people for whom nuclear energy was not just a job, but also a part of their lives. Ukrainian nuclear power professionals built the plant, laying the foundation for safe, reliable, and low-carbon energy.

The Zaporizhzhia NPP, the flagship of Ukrainian nuclear industry, has been providing light and heat to the citizens of Ukraine for over thirty-five years until in March 2022, russian occupiers turned it into a military base, threatening the nuclear and radiation safety of the entire European region.

We are convinced that the best protection for the ZNPP is restoring control to the legitimate operator, Energoatom, and returning our qualified specialists to their jobs. After all, Ukrainian nuclear power professionals have always been and remain the guardians of safety.
