Emergency exercise conducted at the site of one of Energoatom's separated subdivisions
Regular exercises to eliminate the consequences of a potential accident at a nuclear power plant are aimed at drilling and coordinating the actions of units in the event of an emergency at a nuclear facility.
According to the head of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom", Petro Kotin, the main objective of the training is to ensure prompt and high-quality response. “Taking into account the experience of the Chornobyl accident, a subdivision was created that can eliminate any emergency on its own,” he explained.
So now, given the conditions of martial law and the seizure of Europe's largest Zaporizhzhia NPP by the russian military, the professionals are constantly improving their skills of rapid response because the enemy can arrange a provocation at any time.
“Emergency exercises are held systematically, both within the entire Company and this subdivision. All specialists know exactly what to do,” said Petro Kotin.
During the training, the employees of the separated subdivision determined the radiation exposure on personnel and carried out special engineering work: drilling holes, metal cutting, and lifting reinforced concrete structures using pneumatic equipment. The professionals decontaminated equipment and special technical devices. They also performed radiation-hazardous activities using robotic systems.
The head of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin summarized the training results, set tasks for further work, and awarded the employees of the separated subdivision with letters of appreciation and certificates for the conscientious performance of duties and longstanding work.
