ZNPP is Ukraine: Energoatom continues making every effort to regain control over the nuclear power plant

On March 4, 2024, on the second anniversary of the occupation of Zaporizhzhia NPP by the russian military, Energoatom hosted the event "ZNPP is Ukraine" aimed to thank the nuclear workers for their courage, professionalism and patriotism, as well as to remind the world once again of the crime committed by the russian invaders.

Those attending paid tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine, including Energoatom employees who gave their lives for its freedom.

As part of the event, CEO of Energoatom Petro Kotin met with the plant personnel and relatives of the Company's employees who stood up to defend the state. The words of support for Ukraine, Energoatom and courageous ZNPP nuclear workers were also expressed by Deputy Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk, representatives of the embassies of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Slovakia, the European Union in Ukraine, Mayor of Enerhodar Dmytro Orlov, Acting Director General of ZNPP Dmytro Verbytskyi and representatives of Energoatom's strategic partners Holtec International and Westinghouse.

According to Petro Kotin, during the russian occupation, the entire civilized world witnessed eight blackouts, numerous equipment failures and blatantly incompetent actions of the personnel brought by the occupiers... During the two years of occupation of Zaporizhzhia NPP by the russians, at least 150 cases of violations of the conditions for proper operation of the facility, nuclear and radiation safety were recorded. Moreover, the situation is only getting worse.

As noted by Svitlana Hrynchuk, the work to return the power plant to Energoatom's control began from the first days of the occupation and will not stop until licensed Ukrainian personnel return to ZNPP!

"We hope for the help of our international partners. After all, the main goal is to regain control over ZNPP to guarantee the safe operation of the nuclear facility to the whole world," said Petro Kotin.
