The resolution calling for the immediate return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to the control of Ukraine is the toughest one of all those approved earlier - Petro Kotin
Within the frame of his visit to the Rivne NPP, during a conversation with journalists, CEO of JSC «NNEGC «Energoatom» Petro Kotin commented on the resolution “Nuclear safety, security and guarantees in Ukraine” approved by the IAEA Board of Governors on March 7, 2024.
He said that the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation had made the most of that opportunity and prepared a draft Resolution that requires russia to withdraw from the Zaporizhzhia NPP and return control over the plant to the only legitimate operator - Energoatom.
«This is the toughest resolution of all those approved. Today, the Zaporizhzhia NPP is in a state of deep degradation. There is a lack of power lines with the Ukrainian grid; absolutely unqualified staff is presented at the plant. And taking into account the fact that the russian military, heavy equipment and land-mining along the perimeter of the plant are based at the NPP, any detonation can lead to a catastrophe at the facility,» the head of Energoatom emphasized.
We remind you that last week Ukraine participated for the first time in the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.
