Economic recovery is impossible without new clean energy
This opinion was expressed by Lyudmyla Tsyhanok, President of the Public Union “Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World” (PAEW), at the discussion panel “Nuclear Power is the Basis for a Carbon-Free Future” at the International Conference “Nuclear Capabilities for the Country’s Development: Wartime and Postwar Recovery”. At the same time, the environmentalist highlights that Ukraine should achieve its decarbonization goals by introducing new technologies and innovations.
Noting the role of nuclear power in achieving zero carbon emissions, Lyudmyla Tsyhanok emphasizes that the key factor in this regard is the safe operation of nuclear facilities. Another significant factor is properly informing the public about the operation of nuclear power plants, especially in times of war and hostile disinformation.
According to her, news about the reliable operation of nuclear power plants is less sensational than nuclear disasters and nuclear threats, so the formation of an open information field is necessary for every citizen of Ukraine to understand the specifics of NPP operation.
