Ukraine continues to be a member in the leadership of the IAEA Board of Governors
At the 68th General Conference of the Agency, 11 new members of the Board of Governors were elected. Ukraine, which was elected to the leadership in September 2023, will continue its work in the governing body in 2025 as well.
In March 2024, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi approved by a decree the composition of the delegation to participate in the IAEA Board of Governors meetings in 2024 –2025.
On September 28, 2023, at the session of the IAEA General Conference, Ukraine was elected as a member of the Agency's Board of Governors. This is one of the two governing bodies tasked with reviewing the IAEA's financial statements, program, and budget.
In addition, the Board of Governors considers applications for membership in the Agency, approves safeguards agreements, publishes IAEA safety standards, and appoints the IAEA Director General, who is approved by the General Conference.
