The intentions of the russian occupationists to put Zaporizhzhya NPP power unit No. 4 into a "hot shutdown" state will create significant additional risks for nuclear and radiation safety – SNRIU
These risks are caused by prolonged downtime of power unit equipment, lack of proper routine maintenance and repair of safety-critical equipment, as well as shortage of skilled personnel at the plant.
As a reminder, keeping all ZNPP reactors in a "cold shutdown" state is currently the safest mode of their operation, especially after the loss of a reliable source of water supply for the Zaporizhzhya NPP – the Kakhovka Reservoir – due to the blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP by the occupationists.
