The USA handed over backup generators for Ukrainian NPPs
The United States Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm announced the delivery of three generators to provide backup power to our reactors in the event of an offsite power loss.
"The US Department of Energy is committed to the safety of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants in the face of Russia’s aggression", she wrote on Twitter.
Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko thanked the United States for supporting our country and the US Department of Energy directly for its assistance in countering russian energy terrorism.
"With the help of our partners, we are preparing for a challenging winter. So this support is very significant for all Ukrainians who will wait for the light in their homes," he said.
President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin thanked the US government for its support as well and said that three 2.2 MW diesel generators, which will be delivered to Ukrainian nuclear plants in August, are currently crucial to the Company: "This equipment will be essential for our NPPs in the event of a power outage." Backup generators can also be utilized at the Zaporizhzhya NPP after its de-occupation.
